Advice for CEO for hiring a CTO.

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

CTO responsibilities vary depending on the stage and size of the organization. If you’re looking to hire a CTO, think carefully about the skills and background you need.

  1. Infrastructure Manager: Used in traditional businesses where IT is more of a support role.

  2. Technology Visionary and Operations Manager: Often a co-founder of the business or one of the first hires.

  3. External Facing Technologist: Typically found in established, more traditional software or hardware companies where interaction with key customers is a prominent activity.

  4. Big Thinker: Usually found in companies where information technology isn’t critical to success and where having someone focus on opportunities on the horizon could be beneficial.

The above-mentioned key elements are meant as information to ease your organizational processes. However, if you would like a more detailed overview, do not hesitate to reach out to me at rizwan.khan@mac.com.
