When does a startup need a CTO?
Updated: Nov 25, 2022
One of the first inquiries I get from non-technical founders is when I need a CTO. To answer that, you first need to understand how a CTO fits into your organization. If you are building a company reliant on technology and don’t have a technical co-founder, I’d tell you that you’d need a CTO from day one. Various models are available in the industry to get the CTO expertise required to drive the technology strategy with a limited budget. E.g., Hiring a fractional CTO or a solid technology lead inspired to become a CTO with proper mentorship. These approaches have pros and cons and require proper planning and management to get the expected results.
The above-mentioned elements are meant for information purposes. However, if you would like a more detailed overview, do not hesitate to reach out to me at rizwan.khan@mac.com.
I have years of experience building Technology and providing Technology Due Diligence as a CTO, and I am available for fruitful discussions.
